Most people cringe when they hear the term "root canal," but the fact is it's a common procedure that can repair a damaged tooth and relieve pain. A root canal may become necessary if the pulp (part of a connective network of nerves, arteries, and other tissues that connects a tooth to the gumline) becomes infected and dies, causing the tooth to die as well. A root canal allows Dr. Satnick to remove the pulp and fill the canal with a sealer. Then, he will fit the tooth with a crown. This can generally be done in as few as two office visits, and most patients experience minimal-to-no discomfort.
